My Final Design

My final design is:
*

I chose this design because: Its simple and will show them what to do instead of run.

Evaluation:

* Does your sign meet all the specifications and requirements of the brief? If so, how?

* What is the purpose of your sign? Do you think your sign will help eliminate a problem in the school or street? If so, how? The purpose of my sign is to tell others about the problem. I think it will eventually eliminate the problem because people might get tired.

* What did you do well? I think I discussed the problem with Roimata and we learnt a lot of why you should walk instead of run.

* What difficulties did you come across while making your sign? Remembering what I did during the weeks

* What can you do next time to improve your project? Listen to the teacher and update what we have to do

STAKEHOLDERS

The Stakeholders are the people who have an effect on the production of your product

My First Design

PMI

You need to come up with at least 2 different possible sign designs and complete a PMI for each. This should include some feedback from an adult or a peer around the school who would represent the stakeholders.

Plus:Minus:Interesting:
It shows that you might crash into someone when you run

The people look sad instead of dizzyIt has stick people

Designing A Sign

Names of people in my group: Te Roimata and Chelsea

Your task is to design a sign that will clearly assist in eliminating a problem within our school.

- Make sure you are clear what the task is.
- Can you identify the key words in this task (highlight them and discuss it with a buddy)

Thinking about signs and signage (Make a list of all the signs you have seen ….. and the purpose of the sign )
Type of sign:Purpose of the sign:
Stop, look, and listenWatch out for traffic that is coming towards you or near you
Give wayLook out for cars, trains, buses, ect
No smoking in this areaTo keep the area a smoke free place
No cats and dogs allowed at schoolTo keep the students safe from animals
Graffiti is not allowedSo people don’t make our school and community look ugly

Brainstorm some Ideas/ problems that we have around our school environment.

* Chuck it in the bin
* Walk don’t run
* Not to cool for school
* Wear it with pride
* Sit when you eat
* Is it kind?
* Pouroa to poutai
* Be kind to the grass and gardens

ISSUE CHOICE AND JUSTIFICATION

You need to think and expand on your answers, one sentence is not sufficient.

What is your issue in our school?My issue is walk don’t run. I am doing this to warn people what might happen if they run. (crash into each other, get hurt)

Who does it affect?
It affects students, parents, children, and other people that think its okay to run.

Why is it happening in our school?
Because students just want to play tag and others do not care about the consequences

When does it happen?
Afternoon and in the mornings

Where is it happening?
In the street, around the school, in the community and while crossing the road after school

What needs to happen to prevent this issue?
We need to show the school as well as the community why we shouldn’t run

My Report

Yeah! Finally I have received my report and I am super excited about the results I have.

After my parents finished reading my report I quickly rushed to my mum and said “Can I have my report? Can I? Can I? Can I?” I was so passionate about reading it. As I was reading it I thought I had improved in all learning areas. Afterwards my parents gave me some feedback, like how interesting it was and they thought I had achieved many goals too.

I felt really good about my report and next time I’m going to aim for better results.

Why Are We One Of The Richest Children In The World

You might be wondering why we are one of the richest children in the world. Well some of the reasons are because we have better technology, we go on fun events and our buildings and houses are in better condition than others.

Starting with netbooks. Most of the schools in Glen Innes and Panmure have a netbook. We use netbooks to learn, communicate and show people all over the world what we write. We are a very lucky country because other countries unfortunately don’t have as many netbooks as we do.

Every term we go on different kinds of events like camping, outings and rewarded trips. Sometimes our schools trips cost up to $70 or $80 dollars. The best trip that I went on was going to Kawau Island for camp. I liked going on camp there because I learnt a lot and had fun.

I feel sorry for the countries that don’t have enough money like we do and if I had a lot of money I would give some to them. Unfortunately I don’t have much money to give.

My Term 2 Highlights

Yes! finally, term 2 already and I was excited about our new topic this term ‘Bigger, Better, Faster, Stronger’. At Pt England school we go to fun places around Auckland to learn about the new topic this term.

I loved going to Taoga time because I’ve learnt a lot like using green screen, making movies and learning how to capture the scene. My teacher is Mrs Tele’a and she is awesome and taught my group heaps of things.

Another highlight of mine from this term was doing podcasts. I liked doing podcasting because it involves me reading more and getting better too. I have done 2 podcasts already and I am working on my third one. If you would like to look at our students podcast feel free to go to podcasts@pointengland.school.nz and watch our fascinating podcasts.

I have learnt a lot this term and I can’t wait until term 3 begins.

Tamaki Tech For Term 2

Every Mondays from 9-11 o’clock the Intermediate students at our school go to Tamaki College for tech. At tech we make things, build things, create things and learn about technology.

I am in Ms Ferguson’s group and we learn about the different ways you can make cards and blend colors. In graphics we’re making cards for special occasions such as birthdays, weddings, Easter and Halloween. There are also different mechanisms to make the card more exciting.

I’m making a Halloween card that has a pumpkin popping out. To make a pop out mechanism first you have to get a piece of paper and fold it. Then cut out half of the picture that you want and put little dots on the line so you know where to stop cutting. When you have finished that open the piece of paper and fold it out backwards. And then you have a pop out mechanism.

At the end of the day we pack up and put all our art work away. I feel really good about my card and I hope I get great marks for it.
